Summer Camp's 'Down' Shows off Members Upbeat Duality
By Fernando Gastelo
London duo Summer Camp (Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey) release their newest single, "Down," a synth pop gem that infuses energy right into your blood stream. The song opens with heavy, distorted guitars reminiscent of Radiohead's "Bodysnatchers," and like that song, it breaks right into the vocals. Elizabeth takes the lead and adds her unique individuality while Jeremy joins in the chorus creating a nice duality.
When Elizabeth says, "The town we spend is not our home anymore/ This is my life," Jeremy affirmatively responds "This is your life," making it almost like an extension of the each other's thoughts. This is a song about moving on, realizing you were stuck in the moment and that the world will still spin another day. With an 80s vibe, the duo present a nice balance between rock and pop, and just like their band name, this newest single proves to be a ray of sunshine in the park. "Down" is taken from their upcoming debut album, Welcome to Condale, and judging by their excellent offerings thus far, this is a release to really look out for.
